Sunday School Classes – A number of classes with various lesson formats and differing group sizes are available. Come be a part of lifelong discipleship. For a listing of classes, click on Adults, then Adult Sunday School.
Hilltoppers -This organization for men and women of retirement age features monthly meetings on the third Tuesday at 10:30 am in the Fellowship Hall with group singing, devotion, program, and lunch. BINGO is offered afterwards for those who choose to stay and play. Day trips and outings to nearby activities, places of interest, and restaurants are also scheduled. Longer trips are taken two or three times a year, for example, Niagara Fall, NY; San Antonio, TX; and Charleston, SC. (The travelers have named themselves “Roadrunners”).
FUEL – This program of lifetime fitness for men and women meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:15 and 11:00 am in The Lighthouse gym.
Opportunities for Service and Mission – Older Adult Ministry helps individuals and groups find appropriate avenues for service ministries within the church and in the community.
Prayer Shawl Ministry – A group meets monthly to knit or crochet shawls which are delivered by our clergy and others to persons in nursing or retirement homes, hospitals,or private homes as reminders of our love and God’s presence with them during illness, grief, and other difficulties. Before the shawls are delivered, the knitting group blesses them with prayer. The prayer shawl knitters enjoy small group fellowship and the joy of using their skills to benefit others. Equipment to Lend – The church maintains an assortment of wheelchairs, walker, and other equipment needed by persons with mobility difficulties. The slightly used equipment has been donated to us. In turn, we make it available at no cost to individuals and families for both short- and long- term use.
Alzheimer’s Support Group -Meetings on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays each month at 6:30 pm in Room 204 are for family members and caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s Disease. The group facilitator is a certified trainer related to Alzheimer’s patient care. NO PATIENTS at these meetings. Contact Donna Lott at 822-6589 for more information.
Consultation, Resources, & Referrals -Staff is available for consultation with individuals, families, and groups about issues related to aging and about appropriate services and resources (support groups, area retirement and skilled care facilities, etc.).
